In 2012, Carnival Australia approached Sharpey to design, build, and operate adventure parks on their P&O cruise liners. Alongside his business partner, Nicole Were, he developed and managed P&O Edge Adventure Parks across eight cruise ships: Pacific Jewel, Pacific Dawn, Pacific Pearl, Pacific Aria, Pacific Eden, Pacific Encounter, Pacific Adventure, and Pacific Explorer.

Featuring over one hundred adventure experiences—including nine zip lines, eight rock climbing walls, high rope activities, Walk the Plank, high beams, Snakes and Ladders, Jumps, Crow’s Nest Climbs, Cargo Net Climbs, Rope Climbs, Funnel Climbs, abseiling, virtual reality, laser tag, and the Titanic Moment—P&O Edge became a landmark attraction at sea.

Operating on P&O cruise ships presented one of the most challenging environments for designing, constructing, and running adventure experiences. As the cruise industry rebounded post-COVID, P&O scaled back from five ships to one.

In 2023, as John and Nicole’s contract came to an end, Carnival Australia took over the operations of P&O Edge.
